Elmira Little Theatre Announces Auditions for
Into the Woods
Elmira Little Theatre will hold auditions for James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods on Friday, June 19,
from 6 to 8pm and
Saturday, June 20,
from 11am to 2pm, at the Elmira Little Theatre building, 1000 Laurel Street in Elmira.
Preparation: sing at least eight measures of a prepared song; share a prepared monologue or read from script; and perhaps read in assigned pairings. Rehearsals begin end of July/early August with performance dates: September 25, 26 & 27
October 1, 2 & 3 Mandeville Hall at The Clemens Center.
The production will be directed by Stephen Miller.

The Baker (Baritone - A to high G) Age: 28-40; an insecure man who desperately wants a child

The Bakers Wife (Mezzo - G to high F) Age 26-38; a confident and intelligent woman who wants a child

Narrator/Mysterious Man (Baritone - G to high E) Age 30-60; an "over the top" storyteller; estranged father

Cinderella (Soprano - G to high G) Age 17-26;
A beleaguered young maiden who is both soft and severe

Jack (Tenor - A to high G; demanding) Age 15-24;
A boy who loves his cow; Archetype: lost boy

Jack's Mother (Soprano - B to high F#) Age 40-55;
Angry with Jack for being such a dreamer; worried about money

The Witch (Mezzo - low F to high F; versatile) Age 25-99;
Rapunzel’s guardian. She has many powers and has cursed the Baker’s family with infertility

Rapunzel (Lyric Soprano - C to high A#) Age 18-30;
The Baker’s lost sister who is held captive by the witch

Little Red Ridinghood (Mezzo - B to high F) Age 16-18;
A spoiled little girl on the way to see her sick grandmother

A handsome man who is obsessed with Rapunzel
